Wait!!, nChord v2 was never released. How can this be v3?

I know, right? : ) It is v3 based on a beta-test adamant request submission stating “make it v3 already PLEASE, it is THAT f’ing good.” So be it.

No flashy speaker-blowing presentation video with half-ass Hollywood-like explosions and sound effects for this version either?

Nope. nChord doesn’t really need that and I rather spend the time and resources on actual development and user support. In fact, I do prefer users who are not into that sort of thing ;)

Why nChord is not free?

This is a one-man’s huge effort using the ‘last drops’ of his own savings and trying really hard to keep the project alive since 2012. A lot of developing time and money, lots of equipment and expenses have been thrown in towards making nChord/Avantgarde Sound a reality. My humble hope is to at least make the project self-sustainable.

What I utmost care about is to contribute something that is honest, pure and good to my fellow humans. Music is a good thing. nChord’s ability to bring the immensely beautiful language of music closer to everyone is certainly a good and pure thing.

While Avantgarde Sound/nChord are not self-sustaining yet, it’s been a great trip regardless. The testimonials on this page are real comments from real people who actually bothered to contact me and share all that truly encouraging feedback. Some corporations in the industry are now suddenly releasing somewhat similar products (still quite behind nChord though!!), which is also sort of flattering, kinda :). World-class, renowned artists have acquired an nChord license here and there too since the beginning. This is a good start and gives hope. The idea that nChord and its concepts were used and helped create a cool piece of music by someone somewhere in the world and that a human heart was touched by it… What could you say to that? How about Product Support?

When you receive your product, you also get your Contact Support information. For some reason, our users happen to be high IQ people as we rarely get support requests. But when we do, I help you get going very quickly as you will be receiving support directly from the developer/creator of nChord, instead of some uninterested 3rd party representative. Nobody wants you to get going with nChord more than I do.

What iPad versions are recommended?

Supported iPad versions are exactly the same as Liine’s Lemur supported iPad versions. As of the date of this writing, all iPad versions are supported. It is worth noting however that nChord v3 Heart Eater will work a little better on later iPad versions with faster specs, such as processor speed, etc.

I suck at music theory, can I still use nChord?

Yup. A big part of nChord’s charm is that it enables anyone to make beautiful music via its innovative high tech and workflow. No degree required :)

The included 109 note switch touch surface called NoteBoard and the Custom Chord Modifiers allow you to tailor the included ~7000 factory chords to your needs with utmost precision for cutting-edge chord progression design.

nChord v3 - HeartEater features one-of-a-kind harmony modulation facilities with basically all functions requiring only one touch of your finger.

With nChord v3 - HeartEater, every time you touch a pad in the vast ChordLibrary, the corresponding chord is automatically auditioned via MIDI, and also displayed above in NoteBoard for further chord customization delight. Of course, you can check your progress at all times by tapping on the handy Test Selection pad to finally save it in ChordBank. The top purple switches (Progression Analytics) display your currently selected scale, and are also used to make nChord provide you with automatic suggestions for chord progression.

And sure, you can also feed-in your custom chords via MIDI input for storing or additional edits.

nChord v3 - HeartEater‘s ChordBank stores your custom chords and plays them when you tap on its pads or when you control it externally via MIDI. It is color-coded to indicate the scale modulation it came from.

nChord v3 - HeartEater’s ScaleLibrary contains dozens of scales, from our beloved Major and Harmonic Minor to the exotic Hindu, Arabian and everything in between… right at your fingertips (literally).

Technical Requirements

{nChord v3 - HeartEater} full working version and prototype was created using Liine’s Lemur development framework, but it is also being ported to other platforms (desktop/mobile, software/hardware).

The two current Technical Requirements are:

- Liine’s Lemur app running on Apple iPad.

- A supported class-compliant MIDI interface (such as Line 6’s or IK Multimedia’s, or a USB-to-MIDI cable, etc.) or Wireless MIDI connectivity (best performance via class compliant MIDI device)

Can nChord v3 MIDI-control other devices and also be controlled by them?

YES!!, thanks to its new MIDI features nChord v3 - HeartEater:

. can MIDI-control any sound generator running in a DAW on Mac, PC or Linux as long as it can receive MIDI notes (Logic, Reason, Cubase, Sonar, FL Studio, Maschine, etc., ALL OK!)
